On Saturday, Jan. 23, the community is invited to the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook State Park, 6300 Hetzler Rd., for a special outing.

Join the Los Angeles Audubon and Ballona Creek Renaissance for a day of native plant restoration at this breathtaking site from 9 o’clock to 12 noon.

Volunteers are needed to restore a section of one of the most beautiful parks in urban Los Angeles.

With the help of volunteers, wildlife and native plants once again will flourish on this spectacular hillside overlooking Ballona Creek.

Among the day’s activities: Learning, digging, planting, and removing weeds.

Gloves and tools will be provided.

As for attire, sturdy closed-toed shoes are recommended along with, hat, sunscreen, reusable water bottle and jacket. (It is breezy up there!)

Parking: Due to limited parking, car-pooling is recommended.

Los Angeles Audubon will provide free parking passes for participants upon your arrival at the very top of Hetzler Road.

RSVP by Jan. 13 to jim.lamm@ballonacreek.org.

What a way to start the new year!
