The community will have its first opportunity to inspect the seven City Council candidates tomorrow morning,
Preceded by a 7:30 breakfast, the Chamber of Commerce’s first-ever open-to-the-public Council candidates forum – 8 a.m. – will be at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, Bristol Parkway.
Later, the Chamber’s board of directors will vote on which one, two or three candidates they will be backing during the 71 days leading up to the April 12 election.
Michael Hamill, chair of the Chamber’s Political Action Committee, and freshly elected Chamber Board of Directors Chair Colette Moore will lead the morning.
Among the questions in quest of answers:
- Will Jay Garocochea, the least visible contender, be able to create a splash?
- Will Daniel Lee, possibly the most ambitious new newcomer, score a breakthrough to the cornerstone of the commerce community?
- Will Thomas Small, the co-most ambitious new newcomer, be able to capture the traditionally more conservative hearts of the business operators?
- Will the better-known candidates – Councilperson Meghan Sahli-Wells, attorney Marcus Tiggs, and business owners Goran Eriksson and Scott Wyant – be able to fend off the new guys?
