There was a time in my life when I wouldn’t have been caught dead wearing pink.

When I was growing up from a little kid to a teenager, the color pink had a rather bad reputation. It was deemed shallow and “princess” to wear or like pink. I wasn’t a very girly girl, preferring teddy bears to Barbie dolls, denim to lace, cycling in the streets to playing house. When I had a pink tee-shirt, I would wear it only under another tee-shirt.

It simply wasn’t cool to be a princess.

As I grew up, my perception (and perhaps the society) gradually changed. I started to embrace being feminine. I started wearing dresses as often as I wore jeans. Pink started to make its way into my closet. And I loved it!

Today, pink has become one of my favourite colors. Not just any pink though. The new pink I prefer is a muted, wearable shade usually known as dusty pink or dusty rose. It is a neutral blend of mauve and pink, which is flattering for most skin tones. I like to call it the updated pink.

When shopping for basics, I now go for three colors – white, black and dusty pink. White is my usual choice on most days, but there are times I need a little something different. If black isn’t suitable or if it’s too dark for the purpose, dusty pink would be the perfect answer.

Do you have a go-to color, which isn’t black or white? Don’t hesitate to leave a comment to share your views!

I’ll talk to you soon.
