[Editor’s Note: As Culver City’s honorary poetess laureate, Dr. Hoult addressed the City Council on Monday night.]
Many groups in Culver City help our citizens.
One such group is fundraising during the month of March — Culver Palms Meals on Wheels.
If someone is alone and has diminished capacity, such as a cancer patient, an aids patient, or someone recuperating from surgery which makes it impossible — or extremely difficult — to shop for food, prepare meals, or socialize with others, all of these will qualify as a client.
There is no age requirement although almost all are seniors– a category that includes me!
Meals on Wheels for Culver City
Hunger has come to us all
When it does, some can go to the mall
And get burgers…large ones, not small…!
But what happens when you’re stuck at home
Very sick or just too old to roam…?
There’s a group you can call on the phone…!
Volunteers will bring meals to your door
Nourishing food and so very much more
Visiting with you to see what is the score
They want to make sure you’re okay
To see if you need help in any way
Then they’ll see that you get it right away
A non-profit that provides meals
Which for some in our city are great deals
This group is called Meals on Wheels
This month for your help they are asking
To replenish funds they are lacking
To continue their good work with your backing…
