The Academy of Visual and Performing Arts of Culver City High School will present its Fall Music Concert on Thursday evening at 7 at the Vets Auditorium.
The Concert Band, String Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, and Chamber Singers will perform, showcasing the talented students at Culver High.
The String Orchestra will perform Trick-or- Treat: A Halloween Fantasy for Pizzicato Strings by Ferde Grofé. The Chamber Singers will perform a medley from the Broadway hit Wicked, along with music from Harry Potter.
To celebrate Culver City’s all-year Centennial, the Jazz Ensemble will feature the song Blue Moon, written for
the MGM film “Manhattan Melodrama” in 1934.
The Concert Band will perform The Symphonic Gershwin, including music from An American in Paris, filmed at MGM in 1951. Additional music from Nightmare Before Christmas also will be featured.
This entertaining evening of music and haunted surprises will include a pre-concert Trick-or-Treat Carnival for younger children who show up in costume between 6 o’clock and 6:45.
A Food Truck will be parked in front of the Vets between 5 and 7.
