Dateline Jerusalem – Absurdity is defined as the quality or state of being ridiculous or wildly unreasonable. The definition should include “United Nations,” “Palestinians,” and “European Union.”
Who else could advocate so many preposterous, ludicrous propositions as
- Israeli occupation is the cause of Palestinians beating their wives,
- Israelis are racists because Israeli soldiers do not rape Palestinian women, and
- Israel is planting fake Jewish graves in Jerusalem”!!!
Recently, the U.N. declared that Israel is the only nation in the world that violates “mental, physical, and environmental health.”
It seems that Israel is the only country in the world singled-out for condemnation for whatever ails the world.
Furthermore, whatever the Palestinians advocate, the U.N. adopts as a resolution against Israel.
For example, UNESCO, the U.N. Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, determined that the HaMachpelah, the Tomb of the Jewish people’s patriarchs and matriarchs, belongs to the “State of Palestine.”
There is no State of Palestine.
It does not exist now, nor has it ever.
France and Spain voted for the UNESCO resolution, claiming Israel planted fake Jewish graves in Jerusalem. They ignored the fact that the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, which holds 150,000 graves, has been used as a Jewish cemetery for 3,000 years.
During the 19 years Jordan occupied East Jerusalem, they ignored headstones on those graves being destroyed, desecrated, and used as latrines or material for roads.
They were Jewish graves so no one cared.
Britain, France, Germany and other E.U. member states joined the U.N.’s World Health Organization (WHO) in singling out Israel as the only country in the world to violate health rights, especially those of Syrians in the Golan and Palestinians.
Yet Israeli doctors and hospitals have treated thousands of Syrian refugees fleeing the Assad regime’s genocide. It is interesting to note that Israeli hospitals and medical treatment make Israel the medical destination of choice for Palestinian leaders and their families.
Among them: Abbas’s wife and brother-in-law, the sister of Hamas’s Moussa Abu Marzouk, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and granddaughter.
Healing Palestinians
Israel also coordinates with the Palestinian Ministry of Health with transferring Palestinian patients to Israeli hospitals.
Israeli taxpayers have paid millions for the treatment of Palestinians when UNRWA or Palestinian health insurance does not cover their care.
Last week, the U.N. Human Rights Council, ironically comprised mostly of human rights violators, voted 107 to 8 for a resolution supporting the Palestinian claim that Palestinian men beat their wives and perpetrate violence on women because of Israeli “occupation.”
Only Israel, the U.S., Canada, Australia, Paraguay, Guatemala, Micronesia and Papua New Guinea voted against this ridiculous resolution. It passed even though Islamic preachers and the Koran condone these harmful acts.
Palestinian TV often gives instructions on how to beat a wife. On Feb. 8, 2016, the Mufti of Gaza quoted the Koran and the Hadith, recommending “hitting that does not make her ugly.”
To set the record straight, Israeli soldiers do not rape Palestinian women. The Torah, Halacha (Jewish law), basic human morality, and army policy prohibit rape. All denounce it as a “vile phenomenon.”
Israeli soldiers are commanded to show restraint and treat captive women with respect. Yet in one breath the Palestinians cry rape of their women, although without proof.
In their next breath they denounce Israelis as “racists” for not raping their women!
Not only is this a contradiction, but the world blames Israel for both situations.
This is definitely the theater of the absurd.
Israel, the Lone Exception
Not only has Israel consistently been the recipient of absurd U.N. resolutions, but of the 193 member states that comprise the United Nations, Israel is the only member state in the world denied a seat on the Security Council.
Fifty-six of the U.N, member states are members of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation.
It is understandable that they would be anti-Israel.
But what would explain European member states continually voting against Israel by supporting these imbecilic U.N. resolutions, Palestinian allegations and proposals?
Perhaps European hatred of Jews is generational.
Two-thirds of all the Jews living in Europe were murdered during the Holocaust.
Prior to that, Britain expelled all of its Jews in 1290 for almost 400 years. They were responsible for the Crusades.
Spain and Portugal had the Inquisition culminating in the 1492 Spanish expulsion of Jews. In 1306, there was an expulsion from France and expulsions in Germany at various times.
Italy formed a ghetto.
Pogroms occurred in Russia, Hungary and the Ukraine. The list of European countries hating Jews goes on and on.
Is there any wonder why the only Jewish state in the world has become a target of Europeans as well as Arabs?
Other than anti-Semitism, what else would explain why the E.U., France, Spain, Germany, Poland and even Britain continue to support these irrational measures?
As the inspirational author Shannon L. Alder states, “Some stories have to be written because no one would believe the absurdity of it all.”
