By most yardsticks, President Trump’s missile strike on Syria last Thursday was a bullseye.
Although America’s allies heartily commended President Trump’s retaliatory missile strike on Syria, U.S. Rep. Karen Bass (D-Culver City/Crenshaw District) disagreed.
In a sharply partisan gesture, she joined fellow leftists in sternly criticizing the president.
Ms. Bass felt snubbed.
“The Constitution is clear,” said Ms. Bass about the appropriate procedure for a president authorizing using significant military force.
“If President Trump intends to increase our military’s involvement in Syria, he must come to Congress for an authorization for use of military force.”
Bypassing the congratulatory calls coming into the White House, Ms. Bass said she was joining “the growing calls for Congress to immediately debate the further course of action in Syria.
“If we truly care about protecting the Syrian people that were brutalized by the chemical attack earlier this week, we should open our country to Syrian refugees and engage in multilateral foreign aid efforts.
“Hurling 59 tomahawk missiles at Syria is short-sighted, it is not the way to peace.”
