To mark Herman and Lilly Munster’s 50th anniversary on the small screen, Saturday’s edition of Culver City’s 12th annual Downtown car show, “Cruisin’ Back to the ‘50s,” will celebrate the iconic television sitcom parody with an all- Munsters theme.

The six-hour show kicks off at 9 a.m. with musical acts, including the multi-talented Linda Kay, through-out the day.

Butch Patrick, who played Eddie Munster, the show’s wolfen child co-star, will be the grand marshal.

The famed Munster Koach and Dragula –- both designed and built by Cruisin’ co-sponsor George Barris –will be on display in front of the show stage.

In keeping with the playfully macabre theme, the show’s signature pin-up competition also has adopted a Munster motif. Spectators may look forward to a gaggle of contestants showing off the latest in vampire evening wear and Frankenstein matrimonial couture.

Munster Mania aside, Cruisin’ primarily is a serious competition car show with more than 40 categories of entries from “Coolest Convertible” and “Best Hearse” to “Best Flames” and “Street Rod.”

As in years past, a Best-in-Show is awarded by Mr. Barris for the most unique and outstanding entry.

More than 460 cars have registered for this annual competition.

Cruisin’ is put on by the Culver City Exchange Club, and underwritten by a number of groups, among others, the city of Culver City, the Armand Hammer Foundation, Auctions America and Barris Kustom. All proceeds raised by the show are directed to prevent child abuse and to support local youth charities.

Parking is available at city-owned lots.
