The Slider

Robert EbsenOP-ED

If we could suddenly change certain aspects of our personal image – just as easily as we use our image editing program (Picasa, Adobe, etc.) to immediately change aspects of our photographic images – how would that be?

Picture the slider on the image editor. Slide it left to decrease something and slide it right to add something. Let’s use that photo slider to tone down or rev up our own image:

Feel too heavy-handed? Too easy a mark?
Consider the “saturation” slider.

Not different enough from your mate? Too different from him/her?
Consider the “contrast” slider.

Want to be brighter – to shine more?
Consider the “brightness” slider.

Want to hide – or cut off parts of yourself, or of your appearance?
Consider the “crop” slider.

Want to kick that habit and go straight? Want to appear not so “straight?”
Consider the “straighten” slider.

Too tired? Too much wine?
Consider the “red eye” slider.

Got blemishes in your past – or in your appearance?
Consider the “retouch” slider.

Got mood swings? Get hot under the collar? Too pacified?
Consider the “color temperature” slider.

Want to bring out your best qualities?
Consider the “highlights” slider.

Want to just leave some of your worst traits in the shadows?
Consider the “shadows” slider.

Want to just fade into the woodwork?
Consider the “neutral color picker” slider.

Want to see things a lot more clearly – with great acumen?
Consider the “sharpen” slider.

NOW, go ahead and SLIDE IT. But don’t worry. If you change your mind at any time – just slide it the other way.

Would that there might always be that UNDO in life.

I’ll just slide that “ got email” slider to the right – and look for your note. robertebsen@hotmail.com
