Fellow Veterans and Friends of Veterans,

Please read the attached by U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-OK),  a comprehensive report on all that is wrong with the VA all across America.

Perhaps this statement by a former Defense Secretary underscores what we have known to be the problem here in Los Angeles.

“One of the principal culprits for the failure to get veterans the care they need in a timely manner is Congress” — Robert Gates served as Secretary of Defense under both President Obama and President George W. Bush

It is time to know what the Congressional candidates for the 33rd District, Ted Lieu and Elan Carr, both Veterans, will offer to turn the Los Angeles VA into a respected facility that will be void of all the corruption and cronyism that have run rampant over the past.

Will either of them call for Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs Sloan D. Gibson to drop the VA's appeal of the federal judgment for nine real estate deals with third party non-Veteran entities that are “unauthorized by law and therefore void.”

Or will they be part of the problem, just as U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Westside/South Bay), whom they seek to succeed, has been?  He and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) are “government supporters” of Veterans Park Conservancy, which is not a Veterans organization but a wealthy Brentwood homeowner group that has an illegal 30-year, rent-free lease agreement to build a public park instead of demanding the VA build the necessary housing for disabled homeless Veterans.

At the top of the list, Donna Beiter must be dismissed as executive director of the Los Angeles VA, posthaste!

God Bless America and the Veterans Revolution
