Among them are the City Manager vs. CAO, election vs. appointment of the City Treasurer and City Clerk, and removal of civil service protection from the police chief and the fire chief.
If we don’t agree with even one of these items, we cannot, in good conscience, vote to accept the Charter revisions.
I believe the Charter Review Committee erred in assuming that Culver City voters wouldn’t catch the attempt to slide some of these issues through by offering a single ballot measure for the entire Charter revision.
I personally have no problem with most of the revisions. They are administrative items that update the Charter, and that’s a good thing.
However, I am unable to vote in favor of Measure V because I don’t agree with all of the larger issues.
