Is This Where the U.S. Zags or Zigs?

Mike HennesseyOP-ED

Dateline Dayton – I don’t profess to be expert on foreign affairs. I know nothing of the sexual shenanigans throughout the world.

The United States showers food, medical supplies and other precious materials on many countries. Some never reaches the needy because of corrupt governments or rebel groups. What action should we take to alleviate the suffering of those poor overlooked peoples? Should we attack the government or the roaming terrorist organizations?

I assume our government shells out money all over the world because they are trying to buy friendship. Hmph. Friendship must be earned. How many countries that we have helped, don’t like us, don’t support us in international situations, burn our flag?

President Obama believes it is necessary for the United States to take military action against Syria because their leader wants to annihilate his citizens for some reason. While killing innocents is wrong, it happens daily.

In my opinion there is a two-fold reason for President’s Obama stance on Syria.

Wrong Children

Why does he feel obligated to do something in Syria but is silent on the starving and sick children who are denied food and medicine?

Secondly, with the President’s approval and the support of his administration, Congress and the Supreme Court, more babies are killed here in the United States daily than all of the victims in Syria. Abortion kills. Mr. Obama and our government don’t do anything. What a shame. Why not work to correct our problems before taking on other countries’ problems?

Something needs to be done about the problem in Syria. That, supposedly, is why we have the United Nations, why we hand over big bucks to them. If the United Nations is not doing what we believe they should, cut off our support. It should be a united front against Syria, not just the United States. The United Nations has said this week the United States is illegally attacking Syria. We are going to commit an illegal act to correct an illegal act? Something is wrong.

Pope Intervenes

Pope Francis has asked for a peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis. That falls on deaf ears in Washington, with the low moral standards of our government and absence of serious religious beliefs. Many government leaders, such as Vice President Joe Biden with his wishy-washy Catholic faith, don’t care what the Pope says. President Obama even less. He wants to be king.  and he will do anything to accomplish that.

World leaders want him to wait for the United Nations report before proceeding. The majority of Americans don’t want the United States to get involved. It will be interesting to see what Congress and the President will do. The other night, U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein (D- CA) implied she does not care what the people say. She supports military action. Possibly she wants to be queen?

I believe President Obama’s prestige is slipping , especially now that he is seeking a diplomatic solution, what he should have been saying from the start. That was not his position before Tuesday night.  Has he put his brain in gear? Or someone in the Administration convinced him he will lose this battle?
