Re “Diving Into My Bomb Shelter at 20-Minute Intervals

Dateline Jerusalem –– My neighborhood is quiet so far, thank G-d. Rockets and missiles are non-stop in southern Israel and they also hit the greater Tel Aviv area, shrapnel damaging the roof of a synagogue. As I write this update, I hear the booms and thuds of rockets shot down in nearby populated areas or landing in open fields. I see clouds of black smoke billowing in the sky.

I have an application that allows me to hear every time a Code Red Alert is sent. A loud buzzer sounds, a map shows what areas are in danger, how long affected Israelis must stay in their shelters. I was speaking with my sister in the U.S. when eight alerts were heard on my computer within a few minutes. Hamas even sent rockets into Egyptian-controlled Sinai yester-day. Probably because Egyptian newscasts have expressed support of Israel.

It is amazing what false information Hamas is sending out via Facebook, Twitter, and anti-Israel news correspondents. For example, Al Jazeera, a Qatar government- owned news and media broadcasting company, which tends to be anti-Israel and anti-American, indicated that Israel killed mainly combatant-age males in Gaza as opposed to the women and children that Hamas is claiming have been killed. The BBC, also not a friend of Israel, warned about Hamas supporters posting photos of Syrian and Iraqi casualties from two years go and claiming them to be victims of the ongoing Gaza situation. For example there are pictures of a family that died two years ago in Syria that seems to have come back to life and died again this week in Gaza. StandWithUs, a pro-Israel advocacy group, exposed a clip that Hamas supporters circulated on Facebook, falsely showing Israel killing Palestinian civilians. It was actually a clip from a Hollywood horror movie “The Final Destination 4.” Please be careful before condemning Israel, since most of what you are seeing is not true.

Israel continues to aid Gaza while Hamas continues to abuse its own citizens. For example, when Hamas shot rockets into Israel and knocked out electricity for 70,000 people in Gaza, Israel exposed Israeli power company workers to the dangers of rockets and missiles so that they could restore electricity to its Palestinian enemy. What lunacy is that? Then Hamas sent rockets and knocked out another electricity infrastructure that left its citizens without electricity again. One hundred of the over 1200 rockets launched by Hamas into Israel backfired and landed in Gaza, injuring its civilian population. In another illustration of Israeli humanitarianism and the Palestinian disregard for human life, Israel offered to transfer blood units and donations to the Gaza Strip. Hamas rejected Israel's emergency service's gesture. I guess Israeli blood is too inferior for them. So Israel offered to assist in blood drives, using Palestinian or Israeli Arab donors. That also was rejected. Some injured Palestinian infants and children are being treated in Israeli hospitals.

The latest news is Israel accepts another ceasefire for another six hours today so that Hamas can receive “humanitarian” aid. Last time they received humanitarian aid was via flotillas filled with weapons. This is unbelievable!
