The Masterful I-Phoney Campaign

The frumpy bag ladies – didn’t that used to be derogatory? – are rallying, thanks to the mentally mushy wing of the Democrat Party, which includes no more than 95 percent of the faithful.

State Sen. Kevin DeLeon (D-Los Angeles), my current choice for fruitiest member of the Legislature, and two of his less swift sidekicks have produced yet another unimaginative bill of wrongs that would impose a statewide ban on plastic bags.

Originally, Mr. DeLeon’s nutty notion was to partially ban air at certain hours of the day, but he said he wanted to start modestly.

Liberals design such regulations, not because it purifies nature one shred,  because it makes them feel so shiveringly good all over. Feeling good is the essence of being a lightweight liberal, as Sucker Obama demonstrated in his dime-store State of His Union address last evening.

The liberal Long Beach Press-Telegram editorialized this morning that a statewide ban of certain – by no means all – plastic bags would be blooming wonderful. And, said the P-T boldly, those who complain that this will cause a significant loss of jobs in the Los Angeles plastic bags industry can go stick a second finger in their right ears. (The left organ is out of bounds.)

To quote the haughtily arrogant august editorial writer, who just flew in –  high, naturally –from Colorado:

“A bag ban wouldn’t be the big job killer the critics claimed. But it would be a huge pollution preventer.”

This, of course, is more odious left-wing smoke. No evidence, just braggadocio.

Next time you see one of those sweet frequently unmarried bag ladies or bag boys, ask the liberal geniuses to trail you to your favorite supermarket and count each one of the plastic bags that is in sight.

Then ask the geniuses how they still feel about saving the world from terrorist paper bags.

It is all baloney, friends, as fake as studio wrestling.
