West Hosts $ Seminar

West Los Angeles College will host the third semi-annual free financial seminar, “You and Your Money – Decisions for Today and the Future,” on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10:30  to 2:30.

Leader of the seminar will be Charles V. Daniel, assistant professor of accounting, formerly an auditor at the international accounting firm of KPMG.  He is a  past president of the Los Angeles Professional Chapter of the National Assm. of Black Accountants (NABA).

Addressing students and community members, Prof. Daniel will share information to avoid financial pitfalls and identify doable strategies to recover from financial pitfalls.

The seminar is designed to benefit both those at the start of and persons well into their financial life.

Topics to be covered:

  • Leasing vs. Buying
  • Dodging Financial Predators
  • What is Your Financial Life Markup?
  • Good Credit for Life (FICO and Beyond)
  • What Is Your Financial Life Break-even?
  • Net vs. Gross Pay – What’s the Big Difference?
  • Show Me My Money (Lessons on Saving and Spending)

While the event is free, an RSVP is required. RSVP to www.WeCanBudget.orgf/WLAC. Campus location and parking information will be provided with confirmation of the RSVP.  Afternoon refreshments will be provided.
