Million-Dollar Bail for Finizza, the St. Patrick’s Day Stabbing Suspect

Knife firmly in his grasp, a smallish 31-year-old man who allegedly went on a mad-dash stabbing spree around midnight on St. Patrick’s Day, is in County Jail this afternoon, charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Justin Finizza, who was reported severely injured himself at the end of the melee, is being held on $1 million bail.

The victim, Andrew Wilson, said to have been stabbed five times, remains in serious condition, according to Culver City police.

Both Mr. Finizza and Mr. Wilson originally were described as being in life-threatening condition.

The suspect allegedly was run down and run over by the victim’s sister. When police arrived at the intersection of Berryman Avenue and Segrell Way very early on the morning of March 18, they found him pinned beneath the car of Amber Ostoja.

One week later, last Tuesday, Mr. Finizza was arrested and charged.


Flight Path

Twice chased out of the Scarlet Lady bar on South Sepulveda Boulevard, according to police, Mr. Finizza ran north toward Sawtelle the second time.

Thrown out once for igniting a disturbance, Mr. Finizza was allowed to return long enough to use the men’s room. More trouble soon followed. In the act of exiting, he argued with and attempted to stab a customer of the bar, police said, adding that he barely failed to connect.

With angry and determined bar customers in his wake, police said Mr. Finizza encountered Mr. Wilson walking along Sawtelle. .

They said Mr. Finizza argued and stabbed the victim numerous times.

Running Away

Afterward, the 5-foot-6, 145-pound defendant took off once again.

He fled around the corner and sprinted south on Segrell Way, with Mr. Wilson’s sister allegedly chasing him down the shadowy residential street in her car.

Mr. Finizza’s next court appearance will be a week from Friday, April 11.
