Welcome to the Baby’s Playpen

My dear left-wing journalist friends are like infants with a toy.

They play with the rattler for a moment or two — say 10 or 20 all-day news cycles. Then, surrendering to their abbreviated attention spans, they throw it away.

They are as egregiously obvious as someone riding a horse into Council Chambers for the Monday night City Council meetings.

As a child goes in quest of the next object to put into his mouth, our left-wing friends do the same.

Do Left-Wingers Ever Sleep?

Tirelessly, they cruise for (usually but not always) a female they can sell to a gullible public as having been victimized by (usually but not always) a disgusting white man.

This is what sells, baby.

It has for 35 years, since the first generation of feminists convinced us of the proposition that 75 percent of dates result in date rape, and the remaining 25 percent of men thought about it but missed their opportunity.

The bigger the lie, the easier it is to market.

Give Me Back My Toy

You remember last month’s toy, Anna Nicole. If you are even a random purveyor of news, you know more about Anna Baby’s resume than you do your spouse’s.

In case Anna Baby ever dies out, the same media has been shlepping the firing of 8 faceless U.S. attorneys by the White House.

Last week’s toy was global warming. If you did not trade in your car by Friday at one of the two used hybrid car lots in the United States, we were told, you would be blamed for global warming killing off the world 10,000 years from this Sunday.

Slow to Heat up

Early last week, the radio celebrity Don Imus made the remark about the losing girls basketball team at Rutgers University being “napppy-haired ho’s.”

The reaction was not immediate — for very good reason. No matter how many times our victim-seeking left-wing journalist friends have been to the well with the same bigotry storyline, they don’t always immediately recognize a new story’s potential.

The Imus quote made the rounds of the internet for a day and a half before it began to gain traction.

This tabloid teletubby was made for television and newspaper reporters marketing the next “outrage.”.

A Movie Made for Television

It had ingredients so scrumptious you could bake a 4,000-calorie apple pie out of them:

A mostly black athletic team not of the male persuasion on one side.

On the other was a white man who fit every stereotype of the traditional oppressor that left-wing journalists play every day like an old-fashioned player piano.

In his mid-60s, for decades he has had a nationally syndicated radio show to which he owes his celebrity and his frequently acknowledged perfumed lifestyle of the affluent.

Duck, Here They Come

Like firefighters swinging down the pole, the predictable black and white liberal media flunkies reported for duty in a timely manner — the same unserious persons you see at every car crash.

Take a breath, Murgatroyd.

Imus Out, Losing Team in

It looks as if the grossly exaggerated reportage of the story will cost Mr. Imus his radio program.

For the next 6 or 7 news cycles, the female athletes from obscure Rutgers, who lost their biggest game of the season, for goodness sakes, will be toasted as if they were heroines when they are nothing more than accidental bystanders. Their news conference yesterday ran close to an hour and a half — on women’s basketball? Their pictures, in living color, graced the front pages of many newspapers this morning. We are an easily distracted country.

Since left-wingers almost never apologize, I don’t expect them to feel contrite this afternoon, either, over the disgraceful way they exaggerated, and fibbed, about the Duke University lacrosse non-incident.

They are Innocent — So What?

As America’s best President famously said, “The world will little note nor long remember” — I presume — today’s exoneration of the 3 innocent white boys on the Duke University lacrosse team who did not rape the black lady of the night stripper at a party last year.

The boys’ lives have been seriously marred if not destroyed by a left-wing media determined to show that white men routinely mistreat black women.

Those Were the Days

There really was a time when news stories were covered, by newspapers and radio, closer to the proportion of their importance.

That era ended during the 1980s when the Cable News Network introduced the first visible 24-hour news coverage.

The sad change that it foreshadowed should cause responsible black and white persons to rise in protest.
