Westside Baseball’s two Westchester Babe Ruth World Series-bound teams open up play this weekend.

The 14-and-unders, bound for the state of Washington today, open up with the Pacific Northwest Regional winner, Tualatin Hills, OR, on Saturday evening at 8.

The 15-and-unders already in Virginia, face the Ohio Valley representative on Sunday morning at the sleepy-eyed hour of 8 o’clock.

Nolan Martinez, 14-and-under pitcher, , fresh off an RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner City Youth) World Series victory in Minnesota, was understandably excited.

“I’m tired of all the practicing,” he said.  “Let’s get to playing some baseball.”

Coach Hector Zamora, equally as tired, explained, “I’ve pushed the players hard, and they have responded.  I’m looking forward to the Series.”

Relief pitcher Jason Zeidman, playing in back-to-back World Series, put it simply. “Hector has given us all we need,” he said. “Now it is up to us.”
