The Culver City High School Centaurs will be looking to get back on the winning track on Friday when they host the 1 and 4 Hawthorne Cougars at 7 o’clock.
“Even though Hawthorne has won only one game,” said Culver City head Jamal Wright, “they are still a good football team. We respect all of our opponents.” The (3 and 2) Centaurs are coming off a 31 to 7 loss to the 5-0-1 Bishop Amat Lancers last Friday.
“We knew we were playing one of the top teams in Southern California,” said Wright. “When you play really good teams, you cannot make mistakes.
“We will use this game as a learning experience, Hopefully, this will make us a better team in the future.”
The future is now for the Centaurs.
The game against Hawthorne will mark the beginning of Ocean League play. The following league games will be at Inglewood (3 and 2) on Friday, Oct. 12, at home against Santa Monica (1 and 2), on Friday, Oct. 19, they travel to Morningside (3 and 2), on Friday, Oct. 26, and play their final league game on Friday, Nov. 2, at home against Beverly Hills (1 and 4). “The Ocean League is very balanced this year,” Wright said. “We will have to ready to play every Friday night.
