The Culver City High School boys basketball team starts Ocean League play with two home games this week.
They will host Morningside tomorrow evening at 7:30 and strong Santa Monica at the same hour on Friday.
Next week Culver City goes on the road, traveling to Inglewood next Wednesday at 7:30.
The 9-7 Centaurs, winners of three in-a-row, will need to beat Morningside and the Santa Monica if they expect to take control of the Ocean League. Santa Monica, 8-7, has been the team to beat for a few years.
Culver City beat two South Bay schools last week, West Torrance, 62-52, and Torrance, 71-64.
The Centaurs are led by Armani Nicolis, Isaac Girley, Wesley Dixon and Aaron Edison. Nicolis is averaging 18 points and 9 rebounds per game, Girley 10 points, , Dixon five points and six rebounds, Edison five points and four assists.
If the Centaurs expect to win the Ocean League they will need to win all of their home games and at least half of their road games, at Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Inglewood, Hawthorne and Morningside.
