The Culver City High School boys soccer team (2-1) hits the road this afternoon for Encino and a match against winless Crespi.

Crespi brings in an 0-3-1 record against the Centaurs who won their last game, 1-0 over Artesia.

Culver City’s next game will be against Santa Barbara on Friday, Dec. 19, in the South Torrance Tournament.

The Centaurs hope to put it all together with a team that appears to have few weaknesses.

“We have a new group of players this year,” said Nico Melendez, senior goal keeper and captain.  “I think we are going to have a good season.”

Maarten Hesseling also likes the team.  “We work well together,” he said. “We are close group. We have a lot of fun in practice. When the game starts, though, we get serious.”

Coach Louie Espeleta likes what he sees.  “The kids are starting to get to know each other,” he said. “As the season goes on, hopefully we can do well and make it to the playoffs.”
