The 4 and 2 Culver City High School football team will battle the 4 and 2 Inglewood Sentinels on Friday night at 7 o’clock at Coleman Field in Inglewood.

Right now this showdown looks like the game of the year in the Ocean League. Both teams have a high-powered offense and a tough defense. The Centaurs are coming off a 47 to 0 win over Hawthorne while Inglewood was running past Beverly Hills 41 to 7.

Culver City sophomore running back Donovan Davis ran for 142 yards on only six carries and Inglewood’s running back Trevon Benton rushed for 110 yards in just five carries.

“We need to take care of the ball and cut down on our penalties if we expect to beat a very good Inglewood team,” said Culver City Coach Jamal Wright. “Inglewood’s team is a lot like Culver City. They have a lot of weapons on offense, and they have a very good defense that creates a lot of turnovers.”

Last Friday, night the Centaurs pulled another offensive weapon out of the closet when they unleashed Davis. “Davis is a great player who still is learning,” said Wright. Against Hawthorne, Stanley Davis and Sean Floyd had two interceptions each as the Centaurs defense recorded their second shutout of the season.

On the defensive side of the ball for Inglewood, Terrance Harvey had three interceptions last week against Beverly Hills. When two teams are so evenly matched the game will be decided by turnovers and penalties.
