The Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day day is famous for numerous activities – the Rose Bowl Parade, a trip to Disneyland and then there is the annual feast at Lawrys The Prime Rib, on LaCienega Boulevard, Beverly Hills.
If you ask the players, they will tell you their favorite activity during Rose Bowl Week is the Lawrys Beef Bowl. Players and coaches from the rival schools in Tuesday’s game, Stanford and Wisconsin, along with the Rose Queen and her Royal Court will enjoy one of the best traditions the Rose Bowl has to offer.
This year’s 57th annual event may be one of the most interesting Beef Bowls in recent years. Both Wisconsin and Stanford are known for their big and bruising players who play smash-mouth football. If that’s the case these teams that pride themselves on having the beef up front may end up eating more beef. Most of the time the team that wins the battle at the table wins the game.
Stanford and Wisconsin will eat some of the best prime rib in the United States. They also will dine on Lawrys famous spinning salad bowl, mashed potatoes, whipped cream horseradish, cream corn and apple pie.
Lawrys will host Stanford on Thursday evening and Wisconsin on Friday.
