Anthony Overton was one of five Centaurs sophomores honored.

Culver City High School’s lacrosse team went 6-0 in the first year of the Ocean League, winning the title and advancing to the playoffs.

The league’s coaches recognized 10 Centaurs players with all-Ocean League honors, including junior midfielder Elliot Stanger, named the league’s most valuable player.

Five of the 10 Culver City players are sophomores, and two are juniors. Centaurs Coach Casey Chabola was named the league’s coach of the year.

Beverly Hills attack Sammy Edwards, a junior, who has committed to play collegiately at Loyola of Baltimore, was named the league’s offensive player of the year. He was joined on the post-season list by four teammates.

Santa Monica, in its first season as a CIF team after playing as a club for three seasons, placed five players on the stars list, including two freshmen: Attack Parker Furlong and LSM Jack Hall.

Downey, playing under first-year coach and Santa Monica alum Dale Schlegel, had four players selected, including senior midfielder Luis Paredes, who won 61.5 percent of faceoffs (123 of 200) and had 21 goals and 31 assists.

Schlegel replaced Scott Witkin, who had coached Downey’s lacrosse team since its inception in 2005 but wanted to step away from head coaching duties.
