A gentleman having trouble with severe tinnitus (ringing in the ear) called me recently. His Kaiser Permanente doctor told him it was incurable. He was advised to consult a hypnotist.
I have had successful outcomes with several tinnitus clients.
According to the Mayo Clinic, tinnitus cannot be treated. Some people get used to it, says the clinic, and notice it less. Managing your stress will help alleviate the aggravation of tinnitus. Stress can make tinnitus worse.
How better to manage stress than through hypnosis? Quietiss is a new drug, and I do not know if it is effective, unless you believe testimonials in the commercials.
On researching tinnitus, doctors believe reducing stress brings improvement. Tinnitus patients who take Xanax do well. Negative side effects include dry mouth and constant fatigue.
Many persons prefer being medication-free. Often medication masks a problem and does not cure it. No cure is so masking it appears to be the only alternative, unless you are willing to try hypnosis.
Tinnitus plagues 50 million persons, according to the American Tinnitus Assn. Two million suffer so sharply it disrupts their lives. Tinnitus is variously described as a ringing, roaring, clicking, buzzing, or other sounds in one or both ears. The rhythms can be uneven. Continuous with some persons, tinnitus is occasional with others.
Being a sound, we assume the problem is in the ear. In reality, it may be enmeshed within a person’s consciousness. Hypnotherapy is the perfect way to break the association and create new neuropathways that avoid the tinnitus area. That way the client’s awareness leans toward the new path, and the tinnitus eventually disappears.
Studies show almost 70 percent of persons using long-term, well designed self-hypnosis achieve a significant reduction in tinnitus volume. Check to see if you are diabetic, are hypoglycemic or you are anemic. Also verify that you have adequate zinc, iron and magnesium.
Some suggest listening to classical music, to soft rock, even to the sounds of nature. Your subconscious becomes accustomed to listening outside of your head. Others suggest taking Ginkgo Biloba over an extended period of time. No evidence exists to show it is effective.
In my opinion, tinnitus ultimately can be lessened. Remember this cure requires work and commitment. Then there is a great chance you will be tinnitus-free.
