CITY COUNCIL NOTES — Three months after the most recent Fiesta La Ballona and nine months before the renewal, Tom Camarella was honored as the outgoing Committee Chair. Laura Stuart will succeed Mr. Camarella, and she was advertising for volunteers to attend the first organizational meeting in January. At times, the mood of the evening was fluffy and fun. After Mr. Camarella received his commendation and shrewdly plugged the Democratic Club, of which he is the president, Ms. Gross spoke up. “Do you have a (Democratic Club) application for Mr. Rose?” she asked, puckishly. Steve Rose is the only non-Democrat on the City Council. When the well-liked lawyer (a rare convergence of words) Andy Weisman was honored for eight years of service on the Civil Service Commission, after being term-limited out, he had a line he could not resist. “When I arrived, the Civil Service Commission was extremely dysfunctional,” Mr. Weisman said soberly. “Fortunately,” he added with a wink, “Corlin left two years later.” Vice Mayor Alan Corlin is a well-known kibitzer. Mr. Corlin’s electric green shirt was the most notable article of clothing in the building last night… Water Board candidate Ken Lock is reported to be relocating to San Francisco…Another in the series of electronics waste roundups will be held Saturday at the National Guard Armory. Residents are invited to dispose of any instrument with a cord…The Baldwin Hills Conservancy is heard from less often these days than Mark Twain. Marta Zaragoza, Culver City’s delegate to the controversial Conservancy group, announced an update meeting. It will be held on Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8, at Syd Kronenthal Park, at the end of McManus Avenue…
