Dateline Dayton – I am back!

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity for our family  We completed the move into our new condo on March 8,  spent Saturday through Wednesday there, and then we left for our annual Florida vacation.

On Monday of that week we had received an offer on our house, which we countered.  Thursday morning, on the road to Florida, a caller wanted to schedule an inspection of the house. We said fine. After Pauline hung up, I wondered why there would be an inspection when the offer had not been accepted?

When we made a stop, I called our realtor's office to find out what was happening. Instead of putting me through to her office, they connected me, ironically, to her cell phone. She was in Florida.  She told us that the counter had been accepted, and she apologized for her office failing to contact us. Shortly afterward, her office did call.

Our Destination

Late Friday afternoon, we arrived in Florida at our friends’ home. We went out for a great fish dinner in the evening.  Saturday, we went to the outlet mall and then had a meal at a nearby restaurant. However, we only were able to get certain items from the menu.  There was a 45-minute wait for most food, and we were hungry. It was three  in the afternoon.

Sunday morning was church. In the afternoon we met our realtor and her parents at the recreation center of her family’s complex.

On Monday, it has become a tradition to attend the senior citizens sale at a clothing store.  After shopping, we headed to the White Elephant to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  We had a good time listening to the live music and enjoying a delicious meal.  Since we were eating outside and it looked like rain, though, we left.  As it turned out, we were correct. Driving out of the parking lot, the rains came. We have our priorities.  We had to celebrate early because that night was the start of Dancing with the Stars.

On Tuesday, we went to Apollo Beach to see the manatees. Not many manatees were visible. visible, just their heads when they popped out of the water. Sharks of all sizes were there, which was unusual.  Sharks do not bother the manatees.

Wednesday was spent on the Island shopping.  I was even able to find a couple items.

By Thursday, we traveled to Pine Island, where we had a great lunch and then drove around.

Friday, by far the best weather day, was Beach Day.

Saturday morning we started our trip back to Ohio, with a stop at our aunt's in Sun City.  We arrived back in Centerville on Sunday night.

Monday I returned to work. In the afternoon we met with our realtor to review the inspection findings. The seller wanted three corrections made. We agreed. T

Since that Monday, we have been moving small items we wanted to keep, going through all the boxes belonging to Pauline's brother. They had been stored in the garage. Now we are preparing for this weekend’s  sale.

Yesterday the purchaser's appraisal was done. , Should not be a problem.  We just had one for our loan to purchase the condo.  We hope to close by the end of the month.
