Re “Why Don’t Union Leaders Give All Facts on City and Schools?”
Responding to Karen Cole’s unwarranted attack on David Mielke, the President of the Teachers Union, last Friday.
I will call you Ms. Cole, out of courtesy. (My parents taught me that I did not always have to let people know what I was thinking.)
Ms. Cole (are you really Sandi Levine, by any chance?) states that she guesses she is a bit confused. She always thought that schools should focus on teaching children. The better we teach our children, the better our futures.
Hmm! No doubt she is California educated. Is this the effect of the 1960s LSD.
Thank the Almighty my parents never tried the stuff.
Ms. Cole also thought that the city should focus on serving its citizens.
As a member of the public, I would like to be informed when the union President is giving incorrect information. For that, I applaud Ms. Paspalis of the School Board for standing up to the union President and clearing things up.
What about the selective lying by public officials? I forgot they always tell the “TRUTH.”
See “Trying to Unscramble What Candidates Are Saying, and Their Originality“
In a credibility contest between an elected School Board member who has the best interests of the students in mind, and a union President who has the best interests of the union members in mind, there is no competition.
Brainwashed or braindead? Your guess is a good as mine. Brain damaged?
It is all about fairness.
The administration is making at least 6 figures plus perks. Taxpayers are on the hook for at least $2.7 million annually ($2.2 million parcel tax) and nothing but cuts and more cuts.
Just a thought to save the School District a whole lot of money. Fire the whole District. Let the attorney majority on the School Board run the District since that is what they are already doing. Cuts, cuts, and more cuts.

Quote from the Board:
“We want someone who knows who the ‘Boss’ is.”
Ms. Cole then asks:
“What planet are you really from, Ms. Hamme? Have you looked at the world outside the School District? Be thankful that you have full benefits for just $174 a month.”
She forgot to mention that many teachers who work in Culver City have to commute from other affordable communities.
“Ms. Hamme, as salaries make up the majority of the budget, we all know what has to give. It is time for the union leaders to lead, and do what is best for the students, not themselves.
“Thank you for printing Ms. Hamme’s letter. It has certainly cleared up a lot for me.”
Only thing clear, Ms. Cole, is that you think the teacher are overpaid and that they should be thankful they have the privilege of working in the great, outstanding Culver City School District. Maybe you believe that they would be happy to pay to work here.

Ms. Cole, or whomever you are, you are a representative of the delusional School District, Board and the stuck-in-the-past citizens.
1. Culver City School District has declined from Distinguished to Extinguished. Made the 1,000 Worst Schools list in 2010.
2. Declared insolvent by the State Board of Education.
3. Disrespected and unsupported by City Council.
4. Feuds with both unions.
5. Smarter than a Ph.D. Superintendent. For that matter, smarter than everyone else.
6. Physical facilities in disrepair.
7. Its only high school still is using trailers for classes rooms.
8. Three sometimes-working school buses for the whole district. One bus broke down on the freeway taking second graders to the Gene Autry Museum. Honest! (I witnessed it firsthand myself.)
9. Indoor pool used as bird (pigeons) sanctuary for over 17 years. No relief in sight.

Sorry, parents. Please forgive me this time. Karen Cole, is that your real name? Or are you another flunky for the “MACHINE?” If not Sandi Levine, then I bet you are the reincarnated “Ms. Idiot.” Haven’t heard from her for awhile.
What are your qualifications to be such an authority on the facts of this issue or any issue for that matter? You were not at the meeting. Even if you were, you still could not have known all of the facts. The Board doesn’t even know all the facts. Surprised?
That is not my beef with you. But you have demonstrated what I have stated many times — that most selected Culver City politicians and citizens are uninformed (ignorant).
Care to engage with me with intelligent dialogue, anytime I’m open?
Must forewarn you though: Just in case you are not aware, I am not from California. If you do not know me, maybe you should ask someone.

Karen Cole also states that, “In a credibility contest between an (s)elected School Board member who has the best interests of the students in mind, and a union President who has the best interests of the union members in mind, there is no competition.
Back in the campaign-running days for the Board, a high-ranking member of attorney Kathy Paspalis’s camp attacked another candidate.
See “But Where Has Siever Been?”
So it does not surprise me that you are viciously attacking a standing teacher’s credibility in our community.
Attorney Paspalis did not react then, but I expect an endorser stating that I “APPROVE” of the Cole message.
Just in case you may need a refresher, Culver City politics are like most politics: Selfishness, ignorance and greed. But Culver City adds stupidity and now barbarousness.
I rest my case.
