Dateline Dayton – I read last week in our local newspaper that every dollar spent on prenatal care is worth $1.26, after the infant’s birth.
This reinforces my position that we should require a license to have and care for children. If we can get a 26-cents return on the dollar, what could savings be if everyone caring for a child were educated?
Of course, my reason for requiring a license is not monetary — rather, the well-being of the child. In today's world, it appears that many do not know how or don't want to care for their child.
We hear daily about children being abused, injured, killed. This must stop, which is why I advocate a form of licensing..
I am not naive enough to think that a piece of paper, even after training, will eliminate the abuse problem. But it would be a positive step.
Who Won?
Now that the Super Bowl is over, I can confess I fell asleep prior to the end of the game. I did not see , the botched play at the end. I really watch the game for the comercials. I thought the Pete Rose ad was super. Living in Ohio, we are very much aware of the Pete Rose situation. As usual, the Budweiser commercial was very good. But Pauline and I shook our heads over several of them. We could not make a connection.
I missed the Carl's Jr., last week, but I did see it when my brother-in-law and I recently were in Las Vegas. It was terrific and had you guessing till the end.
During this off-season, I hope the National Football League will be able to get their act together, keep the players off drugs and have them treat their wives or girlfriends with respect.
Although it's basketball and hockey season, hurry up spring. It won't be long until the Dayton Dragons will be playing. We received our baseball schedule in the mail yesterday.
