For the Third Thing:
Some people feel we have ALL the security we need; some people feel we have SOME of the security we need; and some people feel we have NONE of the security we need.
For the Fourth Thing:
Some people feel we have ALL the time in the world to make changes; some people feel we have SOME time; and some people feel we have NO time left, and the time to make changes is now.
Okay, so let’s say I can’t decide how I feel about the world situation.
I’ll roll a die. Actually, I’ll roll the die 4 times — one time for each of the "Four Things" listed above. A 1 or 2 = ALL; a 3 or 4 = SOME; and a 5 or 6 = NO or NONE. The outcomes will determine how I feel in general about the world.
Here goes.
I rolled a 5, 6, 4, and 2. .
Therefore, I feel that:
NO things will be well with the world.
but, NONE of the world is against us. We have SOME of the security we need.
And, we have ALL the time in the world to make changes.
Do I sound like someone who is confused?
Consider that I sound like someone who is an "independent," and thinks for himself.
Do you think for yourself? Really? Then try the same experiment. Roll the die and see if you can identify with the outcome?
OK, you rolled the die.
You can’t identify with the outcome?
You can identify with the outcome?
You can identify with only part of the outcome?
If this exercise does nothing more than make you think, I’ve done my job.
If it makes you think about changing your outlook, I’ve done my job.
If it leaves you feeling JUST THE SAME WAY YOU DID, without having any second thoughts about it, — well, at least please remember what Norman Vincent Peale said about change:
"Change your thoughts and you change your world."
Having changed his mind about changing his mind, Robert Ebsen made no personal changes yesterday. Therefore, he still can be reached at robertebsen@hotmail.com.
