I discovered the naivete of trusting fathers and mothers. They think that leaving their children in school is going to keep them in a safe environment. I have been walking and driving by Culver City High School and the Middle School my whole life. Yes, I have noticed the huge blue banners with gold letters — about being a great school.
But nowhere is the ugly truth of a gang known as the Culver City Girlz. Just when it looks as if we are seeing the last of the Culver City Boyz’ gang — because their downtrodden hiding place, the Mar Vista Projects, may be sold, here come the Girlz. Isn’t it ironic that the street the Projects complex is on leads directly to Culver City High and the Middle School? They are merely two signal lights apart.
The Culver City Girlz gang members, who attend Culver High and the Middle School, are much nicer than the violent Culver City Boyz. The Girlz just sell drugs and the power of status around campus.
