The Culver City Community Scholarship Fund is an organization that started in the 1960s.

Its purpose was to provide scholarships to students graduating from Culver City High School. From a modest beginning, it has grown into its current size.

Last year, it awarded over $125,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors from Culver High and Culver Park High School.

The funds for these scholarships come from various sections of the community. Participating groups include school organizations (such as the PTA), local service clubs, local businesses and individuals from the community.

Many of the individual scholarships are memorial scholarships, created by families in honor of a deceased family member.

It Is Coming Soon

In March of each year, students can fill out a four-page application. Applications are sorted into a number of criteria.

On a morning in mid-May, the scholarship donors are given the opportunity to select the recipient of their scholarship based on their criteria. There is an awards ceremony in June where the scholarships are presented to the students. The scholarship donors attend this ceremony, announce the names of the winners, and they present an envelope describing the scholarship to the student.

There is a small reception after the ceremony where the donor may talk to the student.

A number of people send donations to the scholarship group to remember a special event or the death of a friend or family member. These donations go into a pool that provides general scholarships.

The Culver City Community Scholarship Fund is always looking for new scholarships.
