Dateline Dayton – Last week was a busy one, starting with the Cash Register Collectors Club meeting and swap meet in St. Charles, IL. I brought my friend Milton, from Australia, back to our house, where he stayed for several days. After breakfast, Pauline and I took him to the airport for California, the next leg of his trip. Hosting Milton always is enjoyable.
We accomplished all that I outlined in last week’s essay, except for Hooter’s. Milton did, however, work on two of my cash registers.
Last Monday at lunch, I met with the inspector I hired to examine the condo we are purchasing. A few little issues and a significant electrical problem. Still haven’t heard if the seller is willing to make the fixes.
In addition to driving Milton to the airport, we had to take Pauline’s brother to a doctor. appointment. Afterward, we visited the Condo Assn. office to clarify questions and to review the regulations.
We probably will purchase the dining room set we saw at the second-hand furniture store, once we have approval from the seller on the repairs. Our luck hasn’t been good on waiting until the price is reduced.
I worked all day yesterday, and in the evening we attended our granddaughter Julia’s soccer match and basketball game. She played a super soccer game, scoring three of their five goals. On to her basketball game, where she also played well. Her side won both times.
This morning I am off to the doctor for a breathing test and chest x-ray, to determine if there are any changes from last year. They have not been able to determine the reason for tightness in my chest when I start exerting myself. It goes away shortly, and I am fine till the next time.
Tomorrow it will be the dentist’s turn to cause me pain, physically and financial.
I am thankful my problems are minor.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving. Sure is a shame that retail stores are starting their craziness about opening on the holiday. A shame they can’t wait until early Friday morning.
