As I write this, I’m sitting at a coffee shop. It is very difficult not to eavesdrop on the couple to my right. She has a drink that’s good, but very sweet. I want whatever she’s drinking. I don’t (for once) ask her what it is. He asks her if they need coffee. I didn’t hear the response.

I’ve been in this shop for a couple of hours, first with friends, now alone. Although I don’t have a laptop plugged in, with the cord beneath my feet, I can justify sitting here because I still have tea in my cup. I can make a small cup of tea last for hours.

It’s getting dark later now. I love that. Daylight Savings Time in the spring is one of my favorite days. Seems like it’s early this year (Checks calendar). March 14. That seems early. Is it always in March? It says in my calendar, on March 14, “Daylight Saving Time begins.” I always thought it was “Savings” with an “s.” And I never thought of it as beginning and ending. It says on Nov. 1, Daylight Saving Time Ends. That doesn’t make sense to me. I’m a teacher. So my At-a-Glance calendar is the academic one that starts in September. That’s the beginning of the year to me. November comes before March, at least on these pages. If there was going to be a beginning, November would be it, not March.

Anyway, we shouldn’t even say beginning or ending. It should just be Nov. 1-Daylight Savings Day, turn your clocks back (fall back). March 14-Daylight Savings Day, turn your clocks ahead (spring forward).

And All That Fluff

I hate when you’re wearing new socks and you remove them to take a relaxing bubble bath, and the fluff from your new socks that’s stuck in between your toes floats all over the bathwater.

I am still very sad that Michael Jackson is no longer with us.

I am thankful for my good health, a nice place to live, food to eat, and money in the bank. I can’t imagine what the people in Haiti are going through after that devastating earthquake.

I am a good speller, but I can’t spell the word “occasionally” without looking it up. Except just now, I’ve thought about it so much, I actually just did it. I guess I’ve learned how to spell “occasionally.”

If people complain about where they live, why do they live there?

This piercing in my nose is a nuisance. I am very close to removing it. Try this: Get a large straw and trim it to one inch in length (this is your nostril). Take a skinny nail (your piercing) and put it through one side of the straw so the nail is on the inside. Drip some candle wax (dead white blood cells) on the nail, inside the straw.

Now, with a Q-Tip, try to get the wax off the nail without really being able to see it. Do this every day for six weeks. This is what it’s like to clean my nose as it heals. You wouldn’t believe what has collected on the underside of this piercing. I’ll stop there.

I got a memory foam topper for my mattress; it’s three inches thick. I feel like I’m at a resort hotel every night. I love to sleep on it. And on that note, good night. Feel free to leave random thoughts in my inbox or on my Facebook wall.
