Still Fuming, Moran Challenges Documentation of Firing Incidents

Hey All;

I've been catching my breath and collecting my thoughts here. Now, before I start defending seven years of my actions as a Coach, Businessman & Human Being, please first allow me to set the stage and place the actors. I apologize; it’s a bit long – 3 pages. But I think you’ll find it a page turner. ☺

We’ll start at the place where most of us first learned about Edge Swim Club’s termination and the horrible things I’ve done – The Culver City News and Editor, Glenn Esterly’s Article entitled, “Moran Brings Down Edge Stay at Plunge”.

Second year of law school, I (Patrick Thomas Moran) worked part-time as a journalist at a newspaper with distribution in D.C., Maryland & Virginia. I wrote articles like Glenn’s, but they were published across seven cities, not one. Journalism 101: use multiple sources, to help ensure the truth and to back your own assessments. Slow, and with active eyes, re-read Glenn’s article. Every time you see a cited source (where you can contact that person to verify accuracy), other than a City Official, circle it.

How many circles did you make? Zero.

And yet, Glenn, who both wrote and edited the piece, published it as front page news and the paper’s Owners allowed it. Now Glenn will say, ‘I trusted my government. That’s just the kind of old-fashioned American I am. I never dreamed we live in a country where you need to verify elected-officials. Well, for the sake of truth, let’s pretend for a minute ole’ Glenn is right…

Mayor Alan Corlin has been waving those official city documents and incident reports like the night never ends. Well dawn just broke Alan. Quick…hide!

Third year law-school, I (Patrick) was elected Senator-At-Large and Sergeant-At-Arms in the Student Senate. I interned the previous year on Capitol Hill for John F. Kerry and Tom Daschle.

Alan Corlin has put his reputation, his future, and his friends’ political careers on the line. For what? Not himself, but his people. The public is just too blind to see me, Patrick Thomas Moran, for what I really am, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. So, let’s all give Alan a hand. Go Alan!

Alan will say: I didn’t write those documents. I was devastated to get the incident reports. I gave Patrick every chance I could. But in the end, I did my sworn duty based on what Staff provided.

You’re right, no Mayor acts alone. He’s only as powerful as the people who follow him. We’d better keep digging…Here! I found something.

Two Staff members, appointed & reviewed by City Council (i.e. the Mayor). Each one earns a six-figure; direct-taxpayer-funded salary. And check this: Council decides if they get raises. Remember that fact. You have literally paid for all of this. The two staff members are City Attorney, Carol Schwab & City Manager, Jerry Fulwood.

Carol Schwab’s existence is best described as the point between rock and hard-place. You read above what she has to suffer, to deal with King Alan. With the other hand, she has an even greater burden: report back to the Public. Greater because ya’ll fund that check the Mayor approves.

Now, I don’t know about Culver City. But in our home, when I provide the money, I decide how it’s spent. Whatever the City Attorney has done, must meet with Public approval. So, let’s see…

Well, Carol gave her signature. She joined the recommendation to terminate our agreement. Now she staked her job, because there are legal implications built into those incident reports.

Read ‘em real close. In some instances, I’m downright violent. And yet no action has been taken to protect the children from me until now? Those date back seven years! Where are your witness-lists Carol? No? Well how about witness and victim date-verified statements? Where are your database searches to verify I’m not wanted in other states? Whose heads are rolling in the Recreation Department because they allowed a dangerous person like me to be near children, for years on-end, despite City Staff’s knowledge?

Hey…does this sound to anyone else like after O.J. was acquitted. Remember O.J.'s “investigation” for Nicole’s real killer? Want ‘Law and Order’? Carol Schwab provides neither.

Moving on…

Jerry Fulwood

Poor, beat-down, Jerry signed too. His signature means he’s reviewed everything in detail from basically a human-resources and financial cost perspective. He recommends terminate us, even though we are this public pool's largest revenue provider. Short and sweet Jerry: Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

But even lowly Jerry doesn’t handle the dirty, salacious details. That’s left to the Recreation Department Head, Director William LaPointe. We call him Bill…or Billy.

Imagine this guy. He’s responsible for compiling all the information necessary to hang an innocent man. How dark your world Bill? I feel so sorry for you. Please know these truths:

Now, you know how their pool works and the principles (the very foundation) upon which they’ve established their little, weak team. Remember, they picked this match with US.
