Re “Making Connections

(As a quick summary, I have run into many hurdles in my search for the perfect live performance software for cello. Things are now looking up…)

If I hadn’t had Laura’s phone number, I would have cried instead of laughed when the manual I was trying to print kept switching languages. Literally. I would be looking at the English language user manual, but when I converted it to Word or HTML so that I could condense the 553 pages, it would morph into an incomprehensible scribble.

So much for the perfect excuse to get a pedicure and sit and read in the massage chair for 45 minutes. Ah well.

The Search Continued

Thankfully, Dennis DeSantis, my contact at Ableton, actually checks his Facebook messages (unlike me when I’m in the middle of a new piece or album). He recommended as the ideal person to help me with my technology challenge a local violinist who is also a certified Ableton trainer.

After a hearty game of voicemail tag, just tonight I spoke with Laura, the trainer. The sun rose at 9 p.m. as she described in detail how I could count on this software to deliver all that I had hoped… and even better, how she could shorten the journey. This is my reward for three weeks of playing hide-and-seek with the extensive plug-ins and options available in this elaborate program.

I am now hearing new melodies resulting from my assurance that at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 4, I will be able to present to her my ideas, and she will help me turn them into a live performance.

I need to get into my studio.

And for those who are interested, my Ableton trainer's website: http://www.lauraescude.com/
