Edge and Motivation
Mr. Moran estimated that a solution could be reached in one more city-refereed summit meeting. Mr. Moran, who has explained the Edge’s unique mission frequently lately, will have a chance within the coming days to spread his message to a wider audience. KCAL/channel 9 came to The Plunge yesterday to record comments and performances by Edge swimmers. The television team is due back to shoot a competitive meet this weekend, and the film will be shown at a date still to be determined. To a variety of audiences unfamiliar with the 6-year-old program, Mr. Moran has stated that Edge is unique nationally in competitive youth swimming because of its equally weighted dual mission. While conducting traditional practices regularly to build a team of polished, finely tuned swimmers, the Edge has a huge roster, said Mr. Moran, because it is equally devoted to developing the character and fitness of the non-stars on the team. The club boasts that no swimmer is turned away.
Postscript
Earlier, Mr. Moran issued a statement describing his team’s motivations in the present disagreement with Royal. “We are trying to protect our thriving, expanding status. We also are helping to create a brighter future not only for our family-based swim community but also for the greater and unified Culver City aquatics community.”
