After Gov. Brown released his $113 billion state budget proposal two weeks ago today, if you are a Culver City resident or an Angeleno, you may have wondered wondering how this affects you.
We – the 54th Assembly District staff and I – are here to give you access to answers.
If you’re an Angeleno or Culver City resident who feels like Sacramento is worlds away from your community, we are here to bring a taste of state Capitol policy-making to you here at home.
If you are an invested stakeholder, concerned businessperson or interested homeowner, we intend to give you a chance to be heard on how your tax dollars are spent next year.
Tomorrow, I am hosting the California Budget Priorities Forum 2015 – Los Angeles | Culver City, starting at 9 o’clock at Dorsey High School.
I invite you to join Senate and Assembly budget subcommittee chairs and a host of key stakeholders and community leaders in a substantive discussion on the fiscal decisions of our state.
They will provide input on how those funding decisions affect all of us locally in Los Angeles and Culver City.
We know we have busy, hard-working residents in the 54th Assembly District. This is why we have designed this special event to use your time efficiently and effectively. Come by at 9 and hear our keynote speaker: Rusty Hicks, executive secretary-treasurer of the County Federation of Labor.
Afterward, we invite you participate in forum breakout sessions where the nitty-gritty discussions on Mr. Brown’s budget plan will take place.
The breakout sessions will cover six important budget areas: Public safety, labor, education, resources, transportation and housing, and health and human services.
Senate and Assembly committee chairs and high-ranking state officials will moderate the breakout sessions. We’ll end our forum event with a complimentary lunch.
You’re a stakeholder. This is your budget. Take a couple of quick hours out of your Saturday to tell key members of our state legislature what YOUR spending priorities are, so we can return to Sacramento and fight hard for your interests.
Our forum is from 9 to 12 noon.
Metro’s Expo Line stops next to Dorsey High at Farmdale Station. Leave your car at home.
