Dateline Dayton – All across Ohio, last Friday was a nasty weather day, rain, sleet, ice, snow.

Again this week, our daughter,Darlene, along with our two granddaughters, drove down from Michigan, to attend the Hennessey Family Reunion.  She arrived at 5:30, just as I was getting home from work. Luckily, she didn’t encounter any snow until Lima, 80 miles north of here,  and it was light. The real problem was just outside of Dayton. They were stopped by an accident and lost 45 minutes traveling time.

Friday night we had supper at home, with Emily completing a paper for the college chemistry class she is taking. She goes to high school in the morning and college in the afternoon. She completed the project prior to the deadline.

Saturday morning Heather and I headed across town to Julia’s basketball game, only to find it was cancelled and we weren’t notified. I even check both the television and computer prior to leaving home.

Since there wasn’t a game, we took the opportunity to stop at the market downtown, getting four-legged Jake some treats. Following that, it was on to the office supply store for supplies for our reunion. Next, the bank for, you guessed it, cash for the party.

Ancia, my niece, and my son Chris, did an outstanding job arranging the party. We held it at Marion’s Pizza in Troy. Their private room was just perfect. My sister Suzie baked cookies, made crock pot candy as well as rice krispies treats. Everyone appreciated the goodies.

Tuesday evening I hosted the Learning Tree Board and staff for a dinner party at my Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the food from City Barbecue. The event gave the board an opportunity to meet the staff, many of whom are new.

An Approving Handshake

On the political front, I believe the way the way President Obama and former President Clinton carried on at the Nelson Mandela memorial service was a disgrace to our country. Get a good-looking woman among them and they carry on like teenagers. It was obvious that their wives didn’t approve, just from the expressions on their faces. I wonder if Bill missed all this carrying on?

Now in our President’s defense, I found nothing wrong with him shaking hands with Raul Castro of Cuba. Just because we disagree politically, that is no reason we can’t be civil and respectful.

This morning, on my way to work, it was 7 degrees. For the first 10 days of December, we have had the second largest amount of snow ever for the time period. I am concerned about global warming. Lol.
