First of two parts
Poor George Laase. He tries to speak with such false wit and authority but never gets things quite right.
First falsehood, he claims I spent “over $13,000 on a losing campaign.” To set the record straight, I turned in my final campaign expenditure report, Form 460, which shows I only spent $8,187.48, less than half of what each of the two leading candidates running for School Board spent.
There have been other times when poor Mr. Lasse has haughtily made comments in this paper and the School Board that have been either exaggerated or proven false. I'm not going to get into an argument but the fact that he starts a disparaging article about me with the wrong facts should say something.
Just because I lost the election does not mean there is not community support for fixing the Culver City Natatorium swimming pool. Rather, there is an awakening and awareness in the community about what has happened to the Natatorium, which is what my campaign for school board was all about.
Before my campaign, most people in Culver City either did not know we had a Natatorium or knew where it was. The School District certainly did a good job not allowing the community to even see what happened to the Natatorium because it was an embarrassing symbol of neglect and waste of a community and School District asset.
