Re “After Further Reflection, Netanyahu Made the Correct Call”

[Editor’s Note: As Hamas terrorists continue firing rockets into Israel, sending frightened residents underground, our correspondent resumes her daily update.]

Dateline Jerusalem — If the cease-fire holds, this will be my last daily update. However, I will continue to write my regular once-a-week essays that will encompass more than just Israel at war.  I want everyone to know the real Israel via its cities and tourist attractions, its accomplishments in technology, science and medicine, its unique character, its food, its people, its history, its politics, every aspect of daily life.

Now that Gaza is relatively quiet, except for Gazans shooting in the air in celebration of a “victory” against Israel, wounding their own people in the process, Israel has to be vigilant on its other borders. The last few days Israel has been caught in the crossfire between Syria and Lebanon, but kept its restraint even though an Israeli officer was injured.  A lot of activity on the Syria-Israel border.  The Jubhat al Nusra faction of the Rebel forces fought with Syrian troops and took over an area on the border of Israel on the Golan Heights.  United Nations Disengagement Observer Forces were captured by the Syrian Rebels.  The UN “peace -keepers,” who allegedly were guarding the border, were so frightened they fled with their armored vehicles and dashed into Israel for safety.

This is the UN modus operandi.  It happened in Lebanon and now it is happening in Syria.  Whenever things get dangerous, they flee their posts and the terrorists take over.  The only reason they did not disappear during the Gaza war was because they were in cahoots with Hamas. This cowardice makes one wonder what would happen if the U.N. were given control over Jerusalem, as often suggested.  If that were to happen, Israel would disappear. Only Israel can protect Israel.  It cannot be left to others.
