I have been receiving calls for procrastination, asking if hypnosis would help a procrastinator. One woman called while I was in a session. She gave me her number so I could call her back within an hour. I did. The call went to voice mail. I left a message.
I telephoned twice more. I did not leave messages. Three days later, she called. She apologized. This delay was symptomatic of her procrastination. She says many days she sits, stares, does nothing.
She suspects this condition stems from being a victim of constant mental abuse.
Her parents peppered her with the idea she was useless, a waste of air and gravity.
The unrelenting barrage, she believed, made her fear being successful. This would negate the negatives she had been fed.
I was her fourth hypnotist. Only one helped. She had seen one of them nine times and never was hypnotized. Another hypnotist told her to imagine large tubes protruding from her arms. Through these tubes she could empty the negative energy from her system, freeing her of procrastination.
Upset by the imagery, she walked away.
True her childhood would impact her adult life. We learn our behaviors between the ages from birth to age 12. For many, the key age is between 6 and 8 years old. Severe behavior issues seem to start at that age.
My new client was quit depressed, leading to further inaction. She could not motivate herself. She was in a mess. Her business was declining. Could be gone soon.
Eating was the first problem to address. Healthy foods were scarce in her diet, and she ate irregularly. Her brain was not being nourished properly. Mild panic attacks would strike. The brain creates these attacks because it is looking for the sugar it needs to function correctly and is not receiving enough. The brain creates a perceived fear, causing the body to produce adrenaline. While the brain needs adrenaline, it further depletes the body of required resources.
I gave the lady a diet low in carbohydrates and rich in protein. Within 72 hours her body began to respond. Thinking more clearly, more positively, she had more energy. Panic attacks subsided.
There was no need to go back to her childhood, applying the same hypoglycemic diet she had when she was much younger.
Once diagnosed with low blood sugar, she had been advised to eat more protein.
I asked her to eat protein every two to three hours. Eating correctly helped. The diet, with very focused hypnosis, helped her to overcome her lessened procrastination. More upbeat, she paid attention to her business and applied the anchors I had given her.
This proved that in some cases it is not necessary to go back to examine the issues that occurred when the client was much younger. Pointless because no one can change what happened then. We can recognize what happened and focus on the person you want to be.
Hypnosis helped this client as others have been aided when they are willing to change their behaviors.
