Passing on the Messenger Once Again

This week's School Board election-season endorsement by the Democratic Club is a perfect example of what I tried to explain to Robert Zirgulis before about his continued lack of local support for his many previous campaigns.

Even though the Democratic Club voted overwhelmingly last month to pass a resolution supporting the California Oil Tax initiative, which Mr. Zirgulis wholeheartedly brought before the club, the membership overwhelmingly passed on supporting his latest candidacy with a total of three steadfast votes out of sixty-four.

Wait, Did He Vote?

If he voted, you would think he would have voted for himself. Right? Then that would make just two supporters, wouldn't it?

The club's underwhelming show of support exemplifies what I wrote earlier concerning the reason for his continued lack of support within our community.

Clear to Almost Everyone

Mr. Zirgulis, it is clear to everyone but you (and your two other staunch supporters) that it is you, the messenger, and not the message you carry that turns off people.

I Tried to Explain

But Mr. Zirgulis doesn't imagine it that way. He already has tried to save face by chalking up yet another dismal (4.6 percent) showing to the dastardly, behind-the-scenes work of the two local political machines that still are out to get him.

Stay Tuned

Stay tuned, loyal readers. The on-going political saga of “Don Zirgulis” continues…
