After playing on the scoring stage for numerous blockbuster and grade “B” thriller movies (Gothika being one name you may recognize), I haven’t been the biggest fan. A lot of the music involves making screechy sounds and moving the bow really fast (otherwise known as a tremolo).
This past weekend was a completely different story. I had the chance to premiere the score I had just completed for a silent gothic thriller called At Knife’s Edge. And wow, did I have fun shaping my melodies to pivotal moments in the film. (I won’t give away the plot as you may want to see it!)
The private film screening was a celebration, closure to a long creative process, and hallmark to a new beginning where I will take this film on the road and continue to perform the score live while Michael (the film’s director) submits the short film to numerous film festivals. Who knows where the film – and I – will end up in this process.
But I am having so much fun, it doesn’t much matter. Check out the latest news on the film here: http://blog.atknifesedge.com/wordpress/
