Dear 9.8 Million California Friends of the African American Caucus (cafriendsofaacc@gmail.com):

Since we have decided to endorse state Sen. Curren Price Jr. (D-Culver City), former Inglewood City Councilman, for the open 9th District seat in the March 5 Los Angeles City Council primary, we are presenting the following lette:

Dear Friend: After serious consideration and consultation with community leaders, I want to tell you today that I have decided to run for the L.A. City Council, 9th District.

I am excited about working at the local level, implementing the things that I've done in Sacramento to help the 9th District and the entire Los Angeles area.

Please support me today by donating $25, $50, or $100. I want to enlist your support and ask you to help me become the next City Council member for the “New 9th.”

I am very familiar with the opportunities and obstacles that exist in this district, almost one-third of which is in the 26th Senate District, which I now represent.

The exciting job opportunities and developments associated with L.A. Live, Farmers Field, and USC are tempered with the other realities of District 9, including high unemployment, struggling schools and the lack of decent, safe, and affordable housing.

I am running for this office to offer leadership by calling for a new level of collaboration among public and private sector resources.

I am pleased to have a broad section of support from community, business and religious leaders in the 9th District. I hope to have your support, too.

You can contact me on Facebook to share your thoughts. I'd love to hear from you.
