Dateline Culver City – Good morning from California.

Today I am visiting Ari Noonan here at his office in Culver City. This is my first visit to Culver City, although I have been in Los Angeles a couple times for work. Pauline was able to join me on my second visit, and we made it an extended trip. That was back in 1979, and Grandma took care of our five children while we were gone.

The company I was working for at the time set up at a show in Los Angeles and I came to help man the booth. After the show, Pauline and I drove to San Francisco, a beautiful route. We stopped at many places, including a tour of yjr Hearst Castle.

In San Francisco, we visited a customer and saw some friends from our Piqua, Ohio, days. When we went out to eat with them, I enjoyed my first Chinese dining experience. It was a great trip.

This time I am here with my brother-in-law. We flew into Las Vegas yesterday,  and we will return there today. We are in Las Vegas for the Silver Strike Slot Tournament, at the Four Queens Hotel and Casino.

We will be staying at the Four Queens, downtown. While here we will visit all our regular haunts, the Pawn Shop, Hooters and American Restoration. This year we might add Counting Cars, the MOB Museum and the Neon Museum. These stops will be in addition to the must-visit casinos of Sam’s Town, Mirage, El Cortes and possibly a couple new ones that have brought back their Silver Strike Machines.

Our return trip to Dayton starts on Monday morning.
Changing the Pace
Ohio executed one of the inmates housed on Death Row last week. Instead of using the electric chair, it was done with drugs, which has become controversial. I don’t believe death is the way, as life should be respected. Additionally, although executions have taken place for thousands of years, they do not deter t crime.

Ohio put this man to death after a jury found him guilty and a judge handed down the sentence. Possibly he did suffer a little, and maybe it did take too long. However, how about the ordeal of the pregnant lady he tortured, raped and slit her throat? She suffered much more than he did.

Once we eliminate death by abortion and the useless death sentence, we might have a society that respects life.
