The countdown is on! In less than two weeks, I will be leaving on my first solo tour.

It is all quite exciting, and I have learned a lot in the process of booking venues, catching up with old friends (so that I have an audience in these faraway places), and creating and checking off tasks on my list. I will even be premiering three new pieces.

Today, however, I remembered something I have forgotten in the hustle that is not new. I am going on this tour to perform. I am a PERFORMER.

Now it is time for me to turn all my organizational and creative skills towards playing my instrument. I have a lot of music to perform, and even though I wrote most of it, that doesn’t make for an automatically convincing presentation.

In writing these words, I am committing to placing my music over website perfection, perfectly formatted downloaded cards, and slick lecture summaries. It’s time for Carter the Cellist to take over!

Speaking of, I think my cello is calling…

(If any of you have friends in Arkansas, Michigan, or Wisconsin, please send them to www.carterdewberry.com to learn more about my tour schedule. Also, see the Community Update.)
