A curmudgeon would say, Ignore the request for reasons of logic. One person wants to uproot and change an entire system. While we have, on occasion, been rightfully accused of curmudgeonhood, the charge will not stick this time.
We heartily believe that Asst. Supt. David El Fattal who was collegial even in P.C.E., the Pre-Cote Era made the correct decision the other day.
Everything possible should be done, said Mr. El Fattal, to accommodate and to insure the safety of all students.
With that, he announced that the proper response appeared to be telling the transgendered student that the single unisex bathroom already in existence at the high school would have to suffice.
Everyone should be content with this solution. Accommodation and security both were achieved.
The transgendered student has a bathroom, but without a whiff of alteration to the traditional bathroom system already in place.
