It’s been a whole year since I started writing for thefrontpageonline.com. How time flies! Can it really be 52 weeks since I began telling readers what was going on Inside My Head?

I’ve covered a wide range of topics: I talked about my lack of self-editing skills when talking. How much I dislike cleaning. And cooking. And being sick. And technology. How my cat had the runs for nine months.

But wait, folks, it’s not all bad! I’ve also written about how I met our editor here at the newspaper. Without him, I wouldn’t be here today (dabs eyes as she accepts award and reads from crumpled index card). I wrote about people-watching (a favorite hobby of mine), the perfect bathing suit, and being sentimental.

I went to the chiropractor, to the dentist, to the cell phone store. I relived my life in Japan, my college home away from home, Christmases past, and communication before the days of email and Facebook. I talked like a child, almost picked up a man who could have been my child, and told stories of my life as a preschool teacher.

Oscar, Do You Hear Me?

Topics ranged from the silly (thinking that the recorded voice on my smoke detector was a real person) to the serious (recounting the tale of my best friend who survived H1N1), from list form to stream of consciousness. I reviewed a movie, a restaurant and a train ride.

In order to prepare for writing this column, I printed out all of my essays and put them in a notebook. I have to say, it’s been quite a thrill to look back at my life in written form. I think a lot, and it’s been cathartic to get my thoughts down on paper. To have an audience read what I’ve been thinking is the icing on the cake.

For anyone who is a thinker like myself, I strongly urge you to write down your thoughts once a week and look back on them a year later. You’ll be amazed at where your mind has been. Thanks for reading. I look forward to writing down more of my thoughts and opinions to share with you.

I’d like to thank my editor for his continued support, my Facebook friends, who click on the link, even if they don’t leave a comment, and…
