Re “Fending Off Critics, Zirgulis Defemds His Natatorium Proposal

(School Board candidate Robert) Zirgulis has done it again.

I admire his tenacity.

However, rather than answering the logical question I posed — who is the Natatorium investor? — he now brings in real estate agents he talked to as credible proof of his assertion about selling a piece of school property.

Apparently there is no investor with $10 million cash in hand, waiting to save the school system.

To further confuse matters Mr. Zirgulis now is ‘fessing up to having mineral rights, which supposedly will be part of the millions PXP will pay “if only.”

Mr. Zirgulis strikes me as a well intentioned gentleman who has painted himself into a corner with these assertions.

When it comes to evaluating candidates, and for that matter teachers, I want someone ( and I haven't voted yet) who will show me that they have the ability to do the job — not to speak in haste or rush to judgement until all of the facts are in.

Our City Council chose to examine an issue that concerns the residents of the city.

Our School Board will have to choose to examine choices that may seem much more mundane, but will be the wisest course of action after careful consideration.

Please, Mr. Zirgulis, stop shooting from the hip. Show us what we might expect from you if you were elected.
